How we help

When someone walks through our doors, they aren’t just getting a referral — they’re gaining a community.

Arms Around You provides innovative, personal development-driven reentry programs designed to reduce recidivism and increase public safety. We help the most vulnerable people become self-sufficient, productive, and contributing members of their communities through a coordinated combination of pre- and post-release support services.

Our services include education and workforce development, substance abuse treatment, mental health support, transitional housing, mentoring, family reunification, and improved community supervision.

The life skills and therapeutic tools provided through AAY get to the heart of the matter — instilling confidence and heightened self-esteem in the men, women, and young adults who commit to a second chance at life. We walk with them as they transform through their transition.

Don’t take our word for it — hear from the people we’ve had the honor of walking alongside.

“I’ve only been out of prison for a couple months after serving 12 years. Everything is new and overwhelming,my anxiety can’t be explained at the moment. And things and people and bills move fast out here so it was such a blessing to have the assistance needed in order to succeed in life. I’m truly grateful for everything you guys have done”

“You’ve positively impacted my life in so many ways. Thanks for all the wonderful things that you do for justice impacted individuals. You gave me hope when I didn’t have any.”

“I have spent most of my life in prison — from the age of 13 to 40, I may have spent a year on the streets. I was released from Walla Walla on January 5, 2012, after serving 15 years. As I walked past the guards, several CO’s bet that I would return. Well, it’s been 6 years and I ain’t back yet. I would say they lost that bet. I’m thankful for all that I’ve been through. It only made me better.”

Our Programs

Services provided to participants returning to the community from incarceration — and to anyone in need of a fresh start.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING

We connect participants with trade schools, technical institutes, and vocational programs that lead directly to career opportunities. Because a skill is a foundation — and a foundation changes everything.

Employment and Education Placement

We match participants with employers, educational institutions, and agencies that believe in second chances. Placement decisions are personalized — built around each person’s strengths, goals, and needs.

Peer Counseling

Our peer counselors have lived the experience. They provide one-on-one, confidential support — helping participants navigate mental health challenges, substance use, domestic violence, and homelessness with empathy only lived experience can offer.

Life Skills Training

From managing money and time, to building professional communication and leadership skills — we equip participants with the tools they need to thrive at work, at home, and in the community.

Workshops and Presentations

Our public workshops tackle the root causes of recidivism head-on, creating safe spaces for healing and growth. Topics include focus and self-control, critical thinking, making connections, and self-directed learning.
